Overview

The Glasgow School of Art is internationally recognised as one of Britain's foremost higher education institutions for creative education. A small, specialist and highly focused international community of artists, designers and architects undertake research at the highest levels. Founded in 1845 with its degrees verified by the University of Glasgow, almost 2,000 students are currently enrolled a third of which are international.

As a prospective student of the Glasgow School of Art, you will work with world-leading academics and find the School an immensely stimulating place to be. A creative hothouse where new ideas are always encouraged and developed through learning, teaching and research which is studio based, face to face, professionally relevant and socially engaged. All students have their own dedicated studio space and there is also an international exchange programme with more than 80 other institutions.

Services for International Students

All new international students will receive an induction day within the first week of arrival at the Glasgow School of Art. This allows students to meet other new starters, and also be introduced to members of staff who can answer any questions about your future and problems that may arise during study.

Accommodation

The Glasgow School of Art has one hall of residence named Margaret Macdonald House, located two minutes walk from the main Garnethill campus.

Location

Glasgow is considered by many as Scotland’s creative capital, and second only to London in the UK. The School is easily accessed from all major roads and only 20 minutes by bus or taxi from Glasgow International Airport. London is five hours away via direct train.
